The scene
Four plates, each with its book and a line of its own: Bull's-eye from Oliver Twist, Toto from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Nana from Peter Pan and Buck from The Call of the Wild. The dogs are drawn from the books, not from any film.
The style
Victorian dog portraits in oil: proud, standing poses, rich browns and soft daylight, each in its own named panel.
The inspiration
The look comes from Arthur Wardle's The Totteridge XI (1897), for the way a dog is drawn with a portrait painter's care: the coat, the eye and the character. The plates are my own.

How it's made
A print of a digital artwork in the style of a late Victorian dog portrait, not an original. Each carries my printed Chapter & Scene signature.
