A quiet suburban close at night. Two ranch houses face each other across the road, one with Christmas lights along its porch. The only streetlamp throws a cone of pale light on five children's bikes lying on the tarmac, no figures anywhere, under swirling red and teal clouds.
An American city-night painting of the 1910s: thick, swirling brushwork, a glowing lamp in the dark, and deep reds and blues that make an ordinary street feel full of feeling.
Inspired by Stranger Things. The look comes from George Bellows's Approach to the Bridge at Night (1913), the American painter of city nights: thick, glowing oil paint and one strong light. An independent art print, not affiliated with or endorsed by the show's makers or any network.
A print of a digital artwork in the style of an early twentieth-century American oil painting of a night street, not an original. Each carries my printed Chapter & Scene signature.
A4, A3 or 12 x 16 in, unframed or framed (slim pine in black, white or natural oak, ready to hang). Made to order on heavyweight 200gsm+ archival matte paper. Free delivery to the UK and US.
