Whatever Our Souls Are Made Of

The unframed print
The light is a long way off. Keep going anyway.
Inspired by Finding Nemo (2003). Two small reef fish, a clownfish and a blue tang, swim among dark jagged rocks deep in the ocean towards a light that is very far away. Sharks and ghostly jellyfish wait in the gloom between them and it. It is a picture about hope in the dark: you do not have to see the end, you just keep swimming. The fish are real fish, not the film's characters.
A soft watercolour and gouache painting, with deep ocean blues, a pale shaft of light from far above and the words set quietly in the dark water.
The idea is the line itself and how it gets people through hard weeks. There is no single painting behind this one; the look was built up in watercolour washes, draft by draft.
I create each picture with AI image tools, then art-direct and refine it until it feels right, and I set the words myself. It's a print of a digital artwork in the style of a watercolour, not a hand-painted original. Each one carries my printed "Chapter & Scene" signature in the corner.
A4 or A3, unframed or framed. Every print is made to order on heavyweight 200gsm+ archival matte paper at full print quality (300 DPI). The picture runs right to the edges, with the words on the image itself. Frames are slim pine, in black, white or natural oak, with shatter-resistant plexiglass and no mount. Framed prints arrive ready to hang. Free delivery to the UK and US, tracked on most orders. Small unframed prints going to the US are sent untracked.
