The scene
Lanterns on posts mark a ring of small cabins, a campfire burns in the middle, pines crown the hill, orchard rows and fields roll down to a pale beach, and the sea reflects a sky of pink, gold and violet cloud. No figures.
The style
An American landscape painting of the 1860s: a vast, glowing sunset sky, golden light pouring across the hills and water, and fine detail in the trees.
The inspiration
Inspired by the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan. The look comes from Albert Bierstadt's Sunset in the Yosemite Valley (1868): a huge glowing sky over a sheltered valley with tiny human buildings.
How it's made
A print of a digital artwork in the style of a nineteenth-century American sunset landscape in oils, not an original. Each carries my printed Chapter & Scene signature.
