Whatever Our Souls Are Made Of
From £19.99
The Scene
Inspired by The Lion King (1994). A lion, a meerkat and a warthog walk a fallen log in silhouette against a blazing sunset, with the words hakuna matata set across the sky. Hakuna matata is a Swahili phrase that means no worries, and I wanted it to feel as warm as the sun going down. The animals are real animals, not the film's characters.
The Style
A 19th-century American landscape oil: a sky on fire with gold, orange and rose, deep shadows below and three small dark shapes walking into the light.
The Inspiration
The look comes from Frederic Edwin Church's Twilight in the Wilderness (1860), Cleveland Museum of Art, for its blazing sky and oil technique. The animals and the scene are my own.
How It's Made
I create each picture with AI image tools, then art-direct and refine it until it feels right, and I set the words myself. It's a print of a digital artwork in the style of a 19th-century landscape oil, not a hand-painted original. Each one carries my printed "Chapter & Scene" signature in the corner.
Sizes and Frames
A4 or A3, unframed or framed. Every print is made to order on heavyweight 200gsm+ archival matte paper at full print quality (300 DPI). The picture runs right to the edges, with the words on the image itself. Frames are slim pine, in black, white or natural oak, with shatter-resistant plexiglass and no mount. Framed prints arrive ready to hang. Free delivery to the UK and US, tracked on most orders. Small unframed prints going to the US are sent untracked.
